Recording Fees

  • Basic Recording Fee is $55 for real estate-related documents
  • Basic Recording Fee includes County recording fee of $23, GIS fee of $14, Automation fee of $8, Rental Housing Support tax of $10. Fee is for documents of up to 4 pages. $1 per page additional charge for each page over 4.
  • Instruments incurring the $10 Rental Housing Support tax include: Deeds, Warranty Deeds, Quit Claim Deeds, Agreements, Options to Purchase, Contracts for Deed, Mortgages, Releases of Mortgage, Leases, Lis Pendens, Mineral Deeds, Coal Leases, Oil & Gas Leases, Surveys, Monument Records, Liens, Foreclosures.
  • Basic Recording Fee is $45 for real estate-related documents
  • Basic Recording Fee includes County recording fee of $23, GIS fee of $14, Automation fee of $8. Fee is for documents of up to 4 pages. $1 per page additional charge for each page over 4.
  • Non-real estate related documents include Articles of Incorporation, Birth, Death & Marriage Records, Judgments, Notices of Probate, Powers of Attorney, Utility Easements.
  • Additional charge for recordings on legal-size paper: $9
  • Recordation of Subdivision Plats: $66

Real Estate Transfer Tax

Real Estate Transfer Taxes are imposed by the State and County for many property transactions, as well as certain trusts and long-term leases. Consult the Illinois Department of Revenue for additional information. State and County Real Estate Transfer Taxes are declared on the PTAX-203 form and paid along with recording fees.

  • State Real Estate Transfer Tax: $0.50 per $500 of consideration
  • County Real Estate Transfer Tax: $0.25 per $500 of consideration

  • Copies per document (any number of pages): $3
  • Faxed copies (per document): $5
  • Certified copies (per document): $5
  • Search, copy & mail (per document): $10
